To avoid drowning in sweat when training indoors, dhb's Aeron turbo waist shorts are constructed from a lightweight, breathable fabric, with an even lighter fabric along the quads. This means there's just the seam around the chamois, and we did find this created a bit of a "mid thigh sausage leg", regardless if we sized up. Unlike shorts, some bibshorts offer an element of skin protection if youre unfortunate enough to end up sliding on tarmac - though the amount of coverage will vary depending upon the design. There aren't really a lot of options for indoor specific kit on the market just yet, but with the huge popularity in on-line racing, we suspect that will grow. When administered with ideal timing, the gel packs that set the SubZero shorts apart are useful, and they do make tough sessions feel that tiny bit easier. If you want a pair of bibs under $100, we highly recommend the Specialized SLX bibs. For shorter rides, indoor spin classes, and hot days, a thin chamois is ideal. While these shorts are a bit more expensive, in our experience Craft makes highly-durable long-lasting pieces that make them well worth the investment. A niggle, when multiplied by several thousand pedal revolutions, can swiftly turn in to full blown painful chaffing and skin loss. Still for women wanting to try out their first paif of padded bike shorts, or needing some shorts for spin class, wed reccomend these. For hot days, the Craft Belle Glow is a top-pick. Its not the best pick for LONG days in the saddle, but is ideal for spin class, avoiding ugly tan lines, and wearing under your favorite bike skirt when you want to look cute. Higher quality fabrics tend to give a nicer feel against the skin and are more breathable during hard efforts on hot days. The straps detach and we found that they were easy enough to operate even in a road-side port-a-potty. The cuffs are wide with silicone dots to hold them in place, and sit very flat against the skin with no pinching. These are supportive without being overly compressive, so if you dont like feeling like a sausage youll like these. Our sweat test found that these shorts were true to its word and kept our tester dryer than a pair of 'non-turbo' waist shorts from Assos. The Legend bib shorts do however pack a lot in to a fairly priced package making these a pair of great women's cycling shorts for lots of riders.
