It feels lightweight and it has a very lovely finish, not greasy at all. I NEVER break out unless there's a combo of factors - sweating, on my period, dirty makeup sponges, touching my face during the day etc. You cant feel it all, texture is so pleasant. I also use it on my neck to cover a recent surgical scar. Rinse any excess product & recycle tube with like plastics. Love love love!!! Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs. Self Defense Mineral Sunscreen Fluid SPF 34. Broad Spectrum, lightweight and non-greasy, Sun Bum SPF 50 Mineral Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion is made of safe minerals to protect skin from UVA/UVB rays. I love the fact that this is a clean sunscreen I'm applying on my skin. The cast disappears super quickly when you rub it in (in seconds, not minutes), it feels hydrating and stays ever so slightly tacky (which I love because it doesn't feel like my skin is tightening and acts as a primer for makeup), and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes and skins (I can only use mineral sunscreens around my eyes because they are so sensitive). It's a great addition to my sunscreen collection. Yes this can leave a white cast but I don't care. In a consumer perception study with 181 participants, after blending in, after 1 week of use: 91% said this product does not leave streaks. I could tell immediately that this was going to happen because of the consistency of the product. It's kind of strange actually. By sheer definition an SPF has oil in it so a sun screen or moisturizer with SPF is greasy. This is the best sunscreen I've ever used! Love that is fragrance-free!! When using this product keep out of eyes. Precautions: For external use only. Yes it has a pretty obvious white cast, but it never breaks me out or irritates my eyes. Mineral Sunscreen Zinc Oxide Broad Spectrum SPF 30, Formulated with non-nano Zinc Oxide, Avocado Oil & Vitamin E, Blends quickly without streaks for invisible SPF protection under makeup, Non-comedogenic so it won't irritate or cause breakouts, Free of oxybenzone, octinoxate and avobenzone, Zinc Oxide: A nano-free, non-irritating sunscreen that helps filter harmful UV rays, Avocado Oil: A natural oil that helps hydrate, nourish & soften skin. I felt like I was rubbing perfume on my face. Keep out of reach of children. For reference, my foundation color is whatever the lightest option is, so I really need a good sunscreen even if I'm going to be out for a short period of time. Not ideal but that seems to be what happens with mineral sunscreens. Keep out of reach of children. It was so bad, that I wound up purchasing other sunscreen at my destination and leaving this behind because it wasn't worth trying to fit it back into my liquids bag. I still want to smell like I'm going to the beach, even though I'm wearing SPF 50, right people? Highly recommend it! The bonus is defence against environmental stressors. When using this product keep out of eyes. This was the worst sunscreen I have ever used. I hated this. Some like to go as au naturel as possible. I have been on the hunt for a mineral sunscreen with 20% zinc that was safe for sensitive skin, was free from irritants, and wouldn't completely dry out my eczema-prone skin but also stay on my face without sweating off in the sun. This is hands down the best mineral sunscreen I've ever tried, and I've tried them all. Reef Friendly (contains no Oxybenzone which has been shown to harm coral reefs), Shea Butter soothes irritated skin and known to create a moisture barrier on your skin that allows for lasting hydration, Green Tea Leaf Extract is known to help with skin inflammation and has a moisturizing effect on the skin. Snip tube at neck to separate & place pump in trash. It absorbs quickly without a white cast or greasy sheen. Active: Titanium Dioxide 2% Sunscreen, Zinc Oxide 15.8%. It smells good too. And, it's better for aquatic life! I couldn't believe it. I don't love the texture though. I wasn't able to reapply it over itself well; it just wouldn't rub in. While this sunscreen won't revolutionize the sun protection experience, it's a trusty workhorse that plays well with skincare and foundation. And even then, it's never more than 1 or 2 zits. Though I wish it also came in a travel size, overall it does the job and I haven't had any skin reactions to using it. It's not very moisturizing so if you have dry skin like me, you will need a moisturizer underneath. Carton is made from biodegradable, recyclable, tree-free paper made with upcycled sugarcane. Secondly, when applied every hour like you should, this sunscreen works perfectly! Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs. I thought I would love this because I like most of FAB products but this one was not one of them. Active: Titanium Dioxide 4%, Zinc Oxide 4%. Here's why I love this one: Curious to learn more, check our Your Local Recycling Center. Whoa. It is very thick, which is somewhat expected for SPF 50, but - if you're applying the correct amount - it leaves a white cast even when you think you've rubbed it in well. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including limiting time in the sun, especially from 10 am - 2 pm, wear long-sleeve shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses, children under 6 months, ask a doctor. Honest Beauty's Self Defense Mineral Sunscreen Fluid SPF 34 is a broad spectrum non nano mineral sunscreen that works to defend against sun damage, and protect against UVA, UVB, and blue light (from all that screen time). This lightweight fluid is infused with sea concentrate to provide essential minerals to the skin, and with an extremeolyte to help defend against environmental aggressors. This item is NOT eligible for coupon discounts. It also dried down much more than the Biossance, which had me believing this would be a more ideal product for daytime sweating. Having been a cosmetics buyer for 20 years at a famous retailer, I never never used any sunscreen or SPF in a moisturizer. I also love that not only does the honest company focus on using nothing but clean ingredients but they are trying to be sustainable eco friendly. Light and perfect for my sensitive skin. I think this would work better for someone who doesn't have dry skin, though the initial greasy texture might not appeal to those with oily skin either. Use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating. There is a bit of a white cast when Initially put it on but it does fade pretty quickly to blend into my skin. Overall, this was just a total failure for me. I am 31 and realizing the need to be more serious about wearing sunscreen every day (especially on my face). So it may just be the angle I'm looking at it. I like the feel of this sunscreen on my skin, but the bottle is horrible. Rinse with water to remove. It's rare for me to say this about an Honest product, but I feel like I have wasted my money. I was waiting for the day when some company would realize that and FAB has. RECYLING INSTRUCTIONS: Remove cap & place in trash. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. I tried to use this on top of the Hydrogel cream and was left with a greasy slick on my face and had to blot it all off. It's not chalky or clumpy in texture, and it rubs in completely. I'll be trying other sunscreens. I like the smell of this, too. SENSITIVE SKIN APPROVED! Its a dream just like every honest product!!!!! My skin looks so flat and matte, even with a full face of dewy products on top. Shake well before use. I'm so frustrated trying to get the sunscreen out of the bottle and can only get very little before giving up. Please please please don't get this, I have no idea what the other reviews are saying when they are praising this product, it is the absolute worst. This is a great everyday product. At least every 2 hours. I understand I could be really sensitive to this particular ingredient, but since I've never broken out like this before in my LIFE, I have to believe there's some sort of ingredient interaction happening, perhaps with one of my other products that has some lower level of comedogenic ingredients that together with the coconut alkanes exploded my face. Going on, the sunscreen was a lot "drier" and spread more like a sunscreen than the Biossance (which spreads more like a traditional moisturizer). As with all mineral sunscreens I've tried (I've tried A LOT) it will leave a white cast. Inactive: Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coconut Alkanes, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Coco-Glucoside, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Tocopherol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Arachidyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate. The Ulta Beauty Collection SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion is a mineral-based sunscreen that provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB coverage plus environmental protection. The fragrance was also very overwhelming. Suitable for all skin tones + skin types. Yes, it leaves a slight white cast, as most zinc/titanium sunblocks do, but it works well, and it smells great! The one exception is zinc oxide (the white stuff lifeguards put on their nose) as it is mineral based. Shake me up (real good) and apply me onto your face + neck in the AM, 15 minutes before hitting the streets. I love that it has protection from blue light in addition to the SPF because I sit in front of a computer screen all day. I don't use it on my face but it hasn't caused any issues. I can't speak to how this works for people with naturally darker (or just less fair) skin tones. Bottom line for my fellow sun-sensitive friends: get this sunscreen, and enjoy :). It is light weight, oil-free, and has no strong smell like most sunscreens. However, within two days of wearing this, my skin exploded with acne. This sunscreen claims to work well for all skin types. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. This meets all my criteria. Protection: so far 5/5. Because it is mineral based it does leave a slight white cast HOWEVER, when I ask people if they can see it on me, they say no. I'm on the fence about whether I want to return or not. - It applies easily. - It's 3 oz, so it's carry-on friendly, and the tube makes it possible to squeeze every last bit out. I was initially on the fence about purchasing this product but so glad I did. - It smells like fun beachy sunscreen, not medicinal or stale like some other mineral screens. Honest Sea Water: provide essential minerals to skin, Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide: defend against sun damage, Extremeolyte: defend against environmental stressors. It's not irritating to my sensitive skin so that's good. I would give this sunscreen 0 stars, even a negative star if I could. Unfortunately, because this sunscreen was the thing that changed my skin chemistry and broke me out, it's the one that goes. However, upon looking up the ingredients, the coconut alkanes came up as highly comedogenic which makes sense since coconut oil will break me out if I use it on my face. Immediately after towel drying. Inactive: Allantoin, Alumina, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extract, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance, Glycerin, Hexyl Laurate, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Plankton Extract, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Rosa Canina Seed Oil, Silica, Stearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Water. I have very greasy/oily skin, and I'm 67 and I was not in any way greasy or oily. My skin also looks pretty shiny and a little bit oily but once fully absorbed, it's not so bad. After learning more about the downsides of chemical sunscreens, I've been trying to switch to mineral. I have no issues with sunburn but we are also moving into colder weather now. It took another day for me to realize it was the sunscreen because I seriously never have an issue with products causing a breakout - I never check for oil-free or non-comedogenic products because my skin is so dry and generally loves oils and thick moisturizing ingredients. I have bought several for gifts for my young adult girls but they complain about the container too. I do however feel slightly ichy after applying I've noticed but that goes away after a little while. I have acne-prone skin and so far so good! Packaging: 50% post consumer recycled plastic. I'd never tried this before, but I wanted a mineral sunscreen with me as I would be in waters with coral reefs and wanted to be as reef-safe as possible. Be sure to completely rinse out the product from the bottle and reassemble the cap before recycling. If this product is swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Rinse with water to remove. Being that is from a brand I trust and LOVE, I see myself buying a backup in a heartbeat. It also had a much more matte finish which means if there was a cast, it was more translucent than the dewy finish of Biossance. So many of them give the dreaded "white cast" but this one does not! I have medium tanned skin so it was very apparent. The texture is very thick and hard to blend into skin leaves a thick white cast and pretty fair myself. Why? Precautions: For external use only. Do not use on damaged or broken skin. First off, love the coconut smell! Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 20% Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Diheptyl Succinate, Methyl Dihydroabietate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Fragrance, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Coco-Glucoside, Tocopherol, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cellulose Gum, Bisabolol, Cetyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Gluconate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid. Reapply at least every 2 hours. First Aid Beauty's Mineral Sunscreen Zinc Oxide Broad Spectrum SPF 30 provides lightweight, non-greasy sun defense that doesn't leave a white cast on any skin tone. Get it! I've gone back and forth between sunscreens, and I always seem to come back to this one. I'm very fair and also pregnant, so I need a mineral sunscreen with good protection. I desperately wanted to like this sunscreen. So just keep that in mind that if others say it leaves a white cast, it may just be showing up more on someone with skin that isn't fair to begin with. I would never buy this again. We took to the Virgin Islands and it held up. With any mineral sunscreen, you have to really rub it in more than traditional sunscreen. It's rectangular, hard plastic that is not squeezable. It's very thick and needs to be really worked into the skin, and it almost has this grittyness to it. Where this one excels is that it truly does rub in all the way, and it doesn't clump and gather in blotches like some others. I'm totally going to have this as a regular sunscreen for every day use. But again, every says they can't tell. I'm beginning to run low and will buy again. For US only. Wears nicely under makeup. The formula is a type that will leave a white cast if you don't rub it in enough and it is scented (I don't find it objectionable but others may), yet the scent dissipates but the sunscreen stays put, with low transfer and without making skin feel greasy or dried out. Container difficult too squeeze since it is so hard and thick but awesome sunscreen. It got all over my swimsuit and wouldn't wash out. I've used other mineral sunscreens that are much better and more usable. This sunscreen is ok. The mineral sunscreen is not ideal for skin of color. I have been using Biossance's mineral sunscreen for reference. And the price is right as well. Most mineral sunscreens are so drying for me but not this one. I've tried about 20 sunscreens so far this year and this is definitely one of my favorites. However, with a light moisturizer underneath, my skin is left feeling a little dry after a couple hours. If product is swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Always check your state & local recycling guidelines. I took this on a vacation to Florida recently, mainly choosing this because at 3 oz, I could take it on my carry-on. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Vitamin E: A vitamin that helps condition skin and fight environmental aggressors. It does not leave my skin pasty white as most zinc sunscreens have in the past. It's so lightweight and performs very well to block the sun's UV exposure! It gathered in my elbow crease and the creases on my hands, etc. This smells amazing and doesn't stink like sunscreen. Sun Protection Measures: Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. I bought this this weekend (in store) and wore it out in the sun. I'll be repurchasing for sure! Reapply: After 80 minutes of swimming or sweating. I've gotten really tan this summer and despite all this beautiful melanin I have, it still works well with my complexion and apparently isn't noticeable to others. Packaging: 1/5 (very hard to get out/squeeze) Reapply after: 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying or at least every 2 hours. And I don't know how it claims to last 80 minutes in water, because the instant I got wet at all, it seemed to rinse right off. I have tan skin and this doesn't leave much of a white cast. It left a thick purple cast (not even a white cast), a purple cast on my face. This breakout was ALL over my face indicating it was a product reaction. Now that I'm in my mid 30s I've become very conscious of the care my skin needs, especially when out in the sun. I've been on a search for a mineral sunscreen that A) doesn't burn my eyes, B) doesn't leave a crazy white cast (I have fair skin), C) is comfortable to wear and reapply all day (I have dry skin), D) wears well under make up, and E) doesn't break the bank. Reapply as necessary to stay protected (all day). It glides on smoothly and doesn't leave any weird texture or greasiness on my face. I'm buying another for sure. This zinc sunscreen sinks into my skin quickly and plays nice with my foundation. It does rub in well though and the only place I feel like it's noticeable is my legs. It has a bit of a greasy texture when first apply but it dries matte. THIS IS A FANTASTIC TRULY NON OILY sunscreen to use alone or over your non SPF oily skin moisturizer. A lot smaller than I expected but it works so well, Smell: 3/5 Do not use on damaged or broken skin.
