As youre likely aware, overtourism is absolutely an issue in the Cinque Terre, but each village is transformed once all day-trippers and tour groups have departed. Since 1997 these villages and the area surrounding them has been a World Heritage Site, and more recently the area has been made car-free too, so the villages are now only linked by wonderfully winding paths along the clifftops, or by the old train line which cuts through the rock.
